3XN focuses on R&D

3XN Architects has established a Department of Research and Development focusing on new materials and technologies

The idea is to research the possibilities of exploiting the potential generated by mixing and merging expertise and experiences from different fields. The goal is to be on the cutting edge between basic science and traditional solutions.

- It is important not just to live up to, but also to create new standards within the building industry. The idea with the R&D department is that at 3XN we want to develop architecture which contributes positively to the world in which we live – architecturally and environmentally, says Kim Herforth Nielsen, owner of 3XN.

The materials of the future are already here. They are present in many of the products we use in our everyday lives – from self-cleaning façades to energy-dynamic and biodegradable building components.
